Product:
EDIUS

Feature:
Search-and-Select in this Bin Folder and/or Search Results dialog (similar to Outlook's Advanced Find)

Description:
On a big project it is really difficult to locate clips in the BIN window. One of the main handicaps is the search result displaying all the clips in a seperate "search folder" but this isn't useful because it would be better to see the clips highlighted in the folders they have been sorted to. The advantage to this: clips are often sorted after takes and scenes so it would also be possible to see if other clips are in the same folder in which the highlighted clip has been found.
A search next and previous button for clip name similarities would also help browsing more comfortably through the BIN window.

Moderator Notes [BH]:
Since it's logically impossible to highlight multiple clips in multiple folders when only one folder is viewed, this would require some kind of niche "Search Mode" or "Results Mode" which is a little weird. Rephrased feature request to be a "Search and select in this folder" which doesn't require major changes to the way the Bin works. Additional "Search Results" dialog request would allow for listing result/folder in a list view (similar to Outlook's Advanced Find).

I think I have to explain this more deeply:

Let's say I'm searching for a clip named 10|2|2.avi (which has been put into the folder scene_10) in the bin.
I open a search input field and enter 10|2|2 and hit enter - the search would jump right into the folder scene_10 and higlight the 10|2|2.avi.
If I have several takes like 10|2|3 or 10|2|5 in this folder and I would enter only 10|2| in the search field it would jump to the first file (alphabetic hirarchy) and then should there be a next and previous button that would let me jump to the next file in this folder that has the entered prefix 10|2|

I would rather say this should look like the CTRL+F search like it works in Firefox for instance.

An improvement to the current way the search in Bin works would be to display a result that shows the information of the clip that has been searched for AND the folder it is located in. Currently the folder organization is ignored and only the possible clips are displayed. Too bad for looking for related clips that are close to the searched one...
