Hi,

I want to transcode the MXF XDCAM HD files to Canopus HQ HD codec
or to the Matrox MPEG I FRAME HD codec but the procoder does not
want to import or transcode the MXF files although such files
use the direct show filter and can be playable
by Windows Media Player 10 or 11.
On the Procoder 3 specification it is written that it can transcode
any direct show codec. This is not possibile even if I do this
on the Matrox Axio HD workstation where
also the Edius Broadcast 4.23 is installed
with the USB dongle.

I then also tried to transcode the virtual Matrox AVI MXF files on the
Matrox Axio HD workstation to Canopus HQ HD codec
or to the Matrox MPEG I FRAME HD codec. When I want to transcode
the application allways crashes and it writtes some sort
of runtime error.

I have bought the Procoder 3 for my Matrox AXIO HD workstation
to transcode ordinary direct show files but for now it is not usable.

Please know that virtual Matrox AVI MXF files
prepared on the Matrox Axio HD workstation
can be sucessfuly opened
by any other windows avi application including
Adobe After Effects, Lightwave, Adobe Premiere and etc....
But the transcoding in the Adobe After Effects is very
time consuming, because for every file I must do all the settings
and because of that I have bought the Procoder 3 and I wanted to use
the batch processing, but unfortunately Procoder 3 immediately
crashes.

Could the Canopus/Grass Valley fix the issues so that I can finaly
use the Procoder 3 application?

I look forward to hearing from you soon and thank you in advance.

Yours faithfuly,

Gorazd.

Hi,

I have now also downloaded from the Microsoft site
the latest Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library 2005 SP1
and have installed it.
There is stil no progress and the Procoder 3
stil crashes when I wanted to transcode
Matrox virtual AVI MXF files in to anykind
of AVI files or anykind of the video file.

The Procoder 3 reports after the crash:

Runtime Error!

ProCoder3.exe

R6025
-pure virtual function call

Why Grass Valley stil do not release the patch to
resolve the issue?

I look forward to hearing from you soon
and thank you in advance.

Yours faithfuly,

Gorazd.

Hi Gorazd - I reported your issue to Japan. They are looking into possibly supporting this format, but there are no guarantees.

Unfortunately, the description "Any Directshow Codec" pre-dates some of the more recent codecs that have appeared on the scene. The one you are trying to use, most likely falls into that small group of unsupported formats (at this time).

I'm hopeful that we will be able to engineer support for this format, and include it in a future release. Until then, all I can suggest is that you export the Axio content out to a format that ProCoder 3 can import successfully.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

The codec may or may not be supported. The problem also lies in the container.
EDIUS Broadcast can parse XDCAM MXF with XD Select. ProCoder cannot.

Hi,

The Procoder 3 is crashing even when I want to transcode
the oridnary virtual AVI Matrox files which are prepared
on the Matrox Axio HD workstation (where also the Procoder 3
is installed) to anykind of avi files.
Please know that I can open such virtual AVI Matrox files
with anykind of Windows video application like
for example: Adobe Premiere, Adobe Encore, Adobe After Effects,
Newtek Lightwave, Sony Vegas HD, Vitrual Dub and etc..
exept the Procoder 3 application.
Why?

Why the Grass Valley stil did not release the update
for the Procoder 3 which shall solve the issues?

Why I can not transcode even the XDCAM HD MXF files which
are playable with the direct show filter
in ordinary Windows Media player 10 and 11 applications?

Why there is stil the specification in the Procoder 3
web pages that it supports any direct show format?

Shall the Procoder 3 ever support the MXF XDCAM HD files?

Please know that even when I want to convert the bunch of
MXF XDCAM HD files in to the avi files in the Edius Broadcast
4.24 application which supports the MXF XDCAM HD files
the Edius broadcast always crashes and such conversion
is not possibile.
Please know that I want to convert the files
to the Canopus HQ avi files or to anykind of other avi files
for example to the Matrox Mpeg 2 I frame HD avi files
or uncompressed avi files.

I look forward to hearing from you soon and thank you
in advance.

Yours faithfuly,

Gorazd.

“Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library 2005 SP1” is for developers only. You don’t need any of those files on your computer, unless you have MS Visual Studio and are developing software on that computer.

...
The Procoder 3 reports after the crash:

Runtime Error!

ProCoder3.exe

R6025
-pure virtual function call
...

Looking at the description of the R6025 error, I would suspect a corrupted, old or wrong version of a dll that ProCoder3 is calling. Try re-installing it.
Basically, it tells you that the program is aware of the function but has no code for it.

While I have no further input on the crash itself, I can say that the Matrox format is currently not supported - it is being looked into.
