Product:
EDIUS
Feature:
Reintroduce audio node right-click adjustment
Description:
In EDIUS v4.03, a user could right-click and audio node to make adjustments to it. This seems to no longer be possible in v4.24
Original description:
We have been using Edius now for a few months at our NBC station we converted from Avid and one thing that I hear from everyone is they would love to be able to adjust the audio up and down via the sliders like the avid. When using a mouse with the ALT key it is very sensitive. Give us slider adjustment without numerous clicking. much thanks
Moderator Notes [BH]:
Since this feature existed then disappeared, I'd say it's a bug, but I'm leaving it here for now.

Hi Abel,
I think you'll find this feature is already in your software. If you open up the Audio Mixer window, you'll see underneath each slider, the word 'None'.
Click on the 'None' under the track you want to adjust with the slider, and choose 'Write' from the little menu. From the same window, start playback of the project. You can now slide the volume up and down, and EDIUS will map audio rubberband points according to your sliding adjustments.
Note: Doing this, will create a lot of rubberband points.

I'm not sure this is what the questioner wanted, yes this works well on the fly but if you want to add a couple of nodes manually or adjust the whole track then the adjustment with the mouse is a bit of a pain.

You can also do track-based adjustment (it doesn't add nodes though) by setting the Audio Mixer to Track and adjusting the slider.

There are a couple of keyboard shortcuts to apply V-Mutes, and do track-wide level scaling. Some of these shortcuts are unbound by default, and need to be assigned.
But yes, tying in a rubberband scaling function with the audio mixer, while paused, would be useful. Noted.

If you want to adjust the overall audio level of a segment on a track
click the triangle on the track
Click the vol button to make volume adjustment active
Select the volume line with the mouse press alt + drag
You might also want to look in to latch

I find thid rather easy but you need to use Edius4.03 or earlier
for example, to duck music below a piece of voiceover
1. add 4 nodes
2. click the left inner node and press Y, type 30 (or similar %)
3. click the right inner node and press Y, type 30 (or similar %)
the click node feature no longer exists in versions after 4.03, this is my most used feature so I will stick with 4.03

You will be pleased to know that as of the most recent build of the 4.5 beta, node clicking is back.

I'm pleased to hear of the return of the click-node feature, since that's why I, like Anton, have stuck to 4.03. Which is a shame since there are things in 4.24 I'd like to use, but I gotta have that click-node thing goin' on. Do you think they'll include it in the next 4.2x update?

There's a post minimum of 10 characters. Time to break out your thesaurus.

I am not sure. There was a plan to release v4.25, but things are quiet on that front. I would imagine that maintaining two codebases within the one development team is tricky business.
(Plus we gave the engineers an earbashing in the last few weeks, regarding bug fixes.)

Exactly! What is needed is the ability to adjust a node/nodes while the timeline is NOT playing, using the slider on the mixer. Avids work like this and it is so convenient.

Ok good!
I've shifted this to the Feature Request section, since it's a...feature request!

I would like to see a non-modal window present itself whenever the left buttob + cursor touches a button on the audio level line. The window to stay on the screen untril cancelled. The window to allow slider control of the dB level of that point.
It was present on the Fast Video Machine software and I still can't get used to trying to make micro movements with my wrist just using the mouse as a slider.
Thank you
James

I would like to be able to type the numbers as well as use the sliders in the mixer just like right clicking on an audio node in the timeline.

.... in Audio Mixer window. Click on the 'None' under the track you want to adjust with the slider, and choose 'Write' from the little menu. .... .
It works nice - but when I stop playing for a while to get back I need to set all the 'Write' options again.
It's too clicky! It's why I dont use the audio mixer at all.
I'd prefer they stay in their state all the time.
Little menu can have radio buttons, it will be faster. (Not click 'None' and choose, but only choose, there are only 4 possibilities)
