Missing Xplode Effects in Edius 2.5

I use Storm 2 with Edius 2.5 and Xplode 2.0 for Edius. In an attempt to upgrade the Xplode transitions to Xplode 4.0, I was told by the Canopus tech to delete the effects folder in Edius and then try to install Xplode 4.0. This didn't work and I have since found out that Xplode 4.0 doesn't work with Edius 2.5. Here's the problem, I no longer have any of the Xplode transitions in Edius 2.5. Tech support has been unable to help me restore the transitions so far. Can anybody on the forum help me get the Xplode transitions back? None of my projects will load correctly because the transitions are missing.

Xplode Professional 4.0 does indeed work for EDIUS v2.0, but you need to install things a certain way.


Install EDIUS, and patch it to the latest version for 2.x
Install Xplode Professional 4.0 off your Xplode 4.0 installation CD-ROM
Download and install the Xplode Professional 4.04 Update from www.canopus.com (you will need a login, and register your copy of Xplode Pro 4)


The big 4.04 update includes the plug-in for all supported versions of EDIUS (essentially, v2.x-v3.x)

This should then get you working with Xplode in EDIUS.

I am currently running Edius 2.53 which is the latest patch and it won't let me install Xplode Professional 4.0, Do I need to remove Edius and re-install it?

When you say it won't let you install Xplode Pro 4.0, at which step does that happen (going from my steps above), and what is the error message you get?

I have installed the Xplode 4.0 from the CD and it now has the Explode Configuration Icon on the Desktop. It says version 4.00.33. When I run the Xplode Professional v4.04 update that I downloaded, it comes up with "This installation requires that you first uninstall Xplode Professional. Do you want to uninstall Xplode Professional now?" When I click OK it starts the wizard and say's Maintenance Complete, without doing anything. That's where I'm at now. BTW, Xplode 4.0 is now available on Storm Edit and works fine.

The 'forced' uninstall is normal. It not showing up in EDIUS is, obviously, not normal.

I'm curious:

- Is there a C:\Program Files\EDIUS\Xplode folder
- If you browse C:\Program Files\EDIUS\PlugIn\ is there something there that looks like 'Xplode****.tpi' ?

To answer your question: I found c:\program files/canopus/edius/XplodeEdius/FXConfig 2.00

There is also c:\program files/canopus/Xplode Professional 4.0

and No there wasn't a xplode****.tpi either

Any suggestions as to where I go from here?

When I return to the office on Monday, I'll try and pull out the '.TPI' file and post it here. It seems to not be installing..

For EDIUS 4.x, you need to download the Xplode Pro for EDIUS version from the registered user section of the website, in the EDIUS v4 product downloads.
