I had to slow 720 HDV footage the other day - normally Edius slows ok, but this - ARGH! Looked so bad, I had to slow in After Effects and then reimport.

I have later on talked with Canopus Support in Germany, and they were able to reproduce the same bad looking slow. So far so good - hopefully this is to be fixed in a future release. It doesnīt help me right now...

Is there any proīs who have found a workaround - using AE for slowing is a tidious process Iīd rather be without.

Help wouldf be highly appreciated!

What frame rate did you shoot in? Is your footage progressive or interlaced?

Hi,

itīs shot at 25 frames/sec/progressive (720p)... Edius slows interlaced video ok....

I can confirm this, but on 720p30 footage...It just looks bad. Even 60p looks bad.

Well - letīs just hope, that Canopus Tech. adresses this issue asap. German support agrees that this is a problem - so it should be corrected soon(hopefully...)

What Processing Option did you select, and how much did you slow down the footage?

Generally more frames per second will do better for slow mo. If you are trying to slow down 25 frames per second, you don't have that many frames to work with, hence you can't slow it down that much before it starts to 'look bad'.

Are you using the "Nearest" checkbox option in the Speed Control dialog window?
