chroma key and filter order
Hello everyone,
I'm an editor familiar with cs3/cs4 pp/afx, fcp, and avid. I've ran into Edius and have been pretty impressed and am trying some new projects on it, with hopes high.
I've ran into a simple issue that I hope there is a solution for.
The problem is the order in which it applies the chroma key, beings it doesn't group it with other filters on the video.
I need to key a subject (green screen), and then animate what's left, presumably with the Video Layout panel. The video after keyed is sized down and then animated onto screen. However, inside of the Chroma Key, it only keys the frame size--everything outside is black, and so I get a black screen with a square that is keyed with the subject in the middle.
Okay, the "Rectangle enable" inside of Chroma Key takes care of this. But, you can't animate the box. So if I go in now and animate the video, the "Rectangle enable" stays static, and I get black inside of that rectangle, on the background video, until the video animates into it (remember it starts out of frame and comes in).
In other software, it is either default it scales/moves with the video, or you could just put the Chroma Key filter above anything else in the filters list.
This is also a problem with colour correcting. I put the key on, then a colour filter, and of course because it's not layered it applies the filter before the chroma key is applied, messing up the key job.
I see how rendering or nesting could get around the colour problem. But how could you get around the animation of a sized key?
Thanks,
Tyler
