Anton,

I don't think he is using EDIUS 5 or even 4. He could be using Neo - and maybe, Grass Valley might cripple that function?

OK, my dv pal video plays without interlacing in Windows media player but not VLC. That is intresting. That seems to be VLC players problem not Edius. Sorry for waisting your time.

My video in vimeo is h.264 compressed .mov. The problem shows up after all only when exporting mov. Vimeo recommend uploaded video to be h.264 codec quicktime and I personally like more mov than wmv. Seems like deinterlace problem is in quicktime exporter.

Thanks for your answers!

I'm using Neo 2. That's weird if deinterlace option is disabled in Neo. I have to use some other program to compress quicktime files.

I said Maybe it might be disabled. I don't have Neo. So, I can't tell.

I checked out vimeo and it uses flv

so if you upload H264, they will convert to flv

so, to cut a long story short, if you upload wmv, you will be in heaven

wmv can look great converted to flv if the bitrate is set high enough and there won't be any interlacing issues

DV, data-wise, is interlaced.
24p DV has repeated fields, like telecined footage.

So technically, DV is always interlaced, though the stored fields can be made such that they can be played in 24p.

Interesting. My Philips DVD player has an option to output PROGRESSIVE scan to SD TV too. If DV is strictly interlaced, and when I pop in a DV into my player, how does managed to convert that 'on the fly' to progressive signals then? This, of course, assumes the TV is also able to cope with progressive signals as well.
