Default DV Storm - Edius Problem

Hi
I upgraded my PC (because of Edius Broadcast) and the first thing I installed was DV Storm 2 (from my original CDs) Then I installed Edius 4.24 including all the drivers (I believe there were also Storm 2 drivers).
When I open Edius and have my DSR-11 running (on playback) I go to "Capture" and then DV-Storm RT - DV only 1 frame comes up-and that is frozen.

When I open Storm Video (also with the VTR running on playback) all I see is a window filled with green.
If I am not in the full frame mode (Storm Video Window is about less than 1/2 of the full screen) and I grab the whole window with the mouse and move this window a little, I see 1 frame (same as in Edius) but if I move the frame up and down with the mouse, then the frames of the video clip advances. As soon as I stop moving it, the clip freezes again. I wanted to update my Storm drivers and tried to get to that section. All my passwords did not work anymore. I sent an email to tech support, I did not even get a reply from them!

When I set to "Generic OHCI" and firewire input, there is no problem capturing the footage...but I have still a lot of analog videos therefore need DV Storm.

The Edius package comes with the latest storm drivers.
Try reinstalling them from the 4.24 folder they are under drivers. Install the canopus dv driver for Storm.

I reinstalled already the 2nd time...always the same. In Storm Video I can control the deck and the timecode runs the same as in Edius. But the clip is frozen.

Must be your video card. Did you try changing the overlay method?

'Green screen' is usually a problem with the graphic card. Try the different overlay methods Edius provides. Apart from that: your're using an AMD setup. There is a chance that the DVStorm won't funtion properly with your mainboard's chipset.

It has been said that Edius V4.5 will introduce a new way of overlay handling. So waiting until August, 8th may be worth it.

All my systems were AMD, and I had similar problems...Using the different overlay methods helped little, but there was something I found that worked. In the Readme files on the Storn2 CD, I think, there is some instructions on how to solve tat . I did it, and got my system to work correctly. It is something to do with adding something to the INI file.It got rid of my tearing also....I only have one problem, but I found a workaround for that, and that is a short lag before the Curser moves, even though the video is showing on the output monitor.....I use the 'shift - spacebar' method, and I dont have that anymore....

Apart from changing the overlay methods you can try the following (from the DVStorm driver readme):

(4) When screen overlay does not show correctly with certain graphics cards

If your screen overlay does not show correctly with PCI Express graphics cards), please add the below lines in the Canopus.ini file located in the C:\WINDOWS folder.

[DVStorm-RT.stmcore.conf]
OverlayMethod=1

When the overlay does not show correctly when using certain graphics cards, you may also try adding the below lines in the Canopus.ini file located in the C:\Windows folder.

[DVStorm-RT.stmdd]
OverlayUpdateMethod=1

If the above setting still does not fix the issue, please try changing the settings as below:

[DVStorm-RT.stmdd]
OverlayUpdateMethod=0

Wow, thank you guys!!
I changed in Edius the Storm RT Overlay Setting from Type 3 to Type 1 and it works.
But not in Storm Video....no such settings.
Lately I was capturing in Storm Video (before the upgrade) because I had a problem in Edius: The capture window showed capturing while in fact it stopped already. If I was not checking all the time, I found myself only 1/2 of the tape captured.
I was told, this bug was fixed in ver. 3.3 -but still happen to me.

I will try again.

Thank you.

Also, it's stated in the Hardware Setting Guide booklet with Edius 4. Read through the Guide and also look at pages 13 & 14. Reboot the system when changes are made.
