Default 300: turn off TBC and chroma ?

I'm converting old vhs from a JVC SVHS deck through an ADVC300.

The JVC deck has TBC. Do I leave both the JVC and the 300 TBC's on? If not, which one should I use.

Earlier captures had "smeary" colors, especially blue. What's the difference between using 1.3 or 2 on the chroma filter? Is there a way to turn off the chroma filter.

Thanks for any help.

You can't turn off the ADVC300's TBC, and anyway it is only a Line TBC, not a full-frame TBC which the VCR would have. So leave the VCR's TBC turned on as you will get a much more stable analog signal to feed into the ADVC300. All other settings on the ADVC300 can be turned off or set to neutral.

Make sure you are using S-Video connection from your VCR to the ADVC300, not composite video.

Ken.
